Learning for making learning exciting...

After a busy week of planning and teaching, dawned a Saturday which turned out to be a stress buster and fun-learning time for teachers.It was the 22nd of June and all the teachers of Velammal NewGen Schools of South  gathered at Medavakkam for a workshop on Theatre in Classrooms . Ms Kritika the theatre trainer of Velammal conducted this workshop  and introduced us, teachers ,to few warm up and cool down games. The following were the warm up games: 

1. Clap passing: a game in which one person should pass the clap to next person and the passing went on..

2.  Mirror game: a game in which two were paired up, where one became a mirror to should mimic the movements that the other person did. 

3. Energy ball:  another interesting game in which people added their talents in the energy ball when their turns came. 

4. Zip Zap Zop: zip zap zop game involves a circle of people sending a "clap" or "impulse" to each other in turn, saying the word "zop" each time. 

5. Statue maker game: this game was played in pairs where one person is the sculptor and the other person moulds the clay into a statue. 

6. Object game: we trainees used our imagination to transform an object into something else.

Then we came to the end of the workshop with the Cool down game called  the space walk game, in which the players moved around the room paying attention to the space around them.

We had an excellent learning today in the drama workshop conducted. We all are ready to meet our class children with a novel set of games which we believe would keep them excited.
