"Vote!?!"




"Why should I vote, it's not going to make a difference anyway." This is a statement often heard from thousands of young people all over the country. Each vote counts, even in School elections for student body members.

A coming election raises hope and aspirations in the mind of candidates and voters.On the 8th of June 2019, election campaigns and polling were heldin Velammal New Gen, Kelambakkam. Student agents and canvassers were appointed by the candidates contesting the election.

Processions were taken out. Public meetings was addressed by the candidates and wall posters pasted on the walls of Activity Hall to attract the attention of voters.On the other side the polling station prepared by the students with the supervision of educators presented a very busy scene. No one was allowed to carry on direct or indirect propaganda within ten feet of the polling station.
There were two polling booths, one with EVM and other with a ballot box.At about2 p.m. polling picked pace as it became unusually heavy with a large turnout of voters.After the polling was over at 3.10 p.m, the ballot boxes were sealed in the presence of the Election Commissioner, Principal&Kritika(Theatre Expert) and  and were sent to the Principal’s office for counting.Each party was confident of its victory.
          

School Elections play a pivotal role in sustaining ideologyand is a tool which helps students from every walk of life to get up and speak for themselves through their representatives.
