 Math Camp at VNGS Adhanur-A Report

Topic: Embedding International Dimension and Core Skills in the classroom.

“ Speak to me I will learn , teach me I will understand , guide me to do I will remember it forever”.

Keeping this in mind, on 7 th December 2019, the Math camp was held at VNGS Adhanur. It started from 9.00 am and went on till 3.45pm.All students of classes III to VII participated enthusiastically and the camp was monitored by Ms.Yamuna, Math facilitator. The Camp PPT gave an elaborate idea about the Math tasksheets and time management. Students were asked to finish the task sheets with in the allotted time (10 am to 12.45pm).

During the afternoon session ,students of two groups DKS (Dikshita,Keerthani ,Srikaant ) VMTP (Velammal Multiple Team Park) were given time to design an International Park. Children enthusiastically participated in designing the park. Appreciation was observed when they explained their models to the parents. 

Math camp was indeed a rich experience for the children to exhibit their creativity, leadership skill,communication skill, problem solving and critical thinking skill .

Fear of public speaking and time management were the

obstacles faced by the students which were overcome during the process. of designing the park. 

Learning outcomes gained by students were,differentiating 2D and 3D shapes, identifying the properties of shapes and self-calculation of area and perimeter.

The camp concluded with students’ reflection, where they expressed their thoughts and learnings.
