Making learning Visible



VNGS Madipakkam celebrated the “Skill Culmination Day” on 8.12.18  and “Theatre in classroom” on 15.12.18. They were the days of contentment for the students, teachers and the parents!
The teachers explored great ways of making learning visible. Students were able to recognize their talents and communicate, while the parents had moments to observe, their ward perform.

On 8.12.18 the first and the second graders of school displayed karate, yoga, singing, dancing and mime, Their Literacy skills by reading passages and identifying sight words, spelling out 8 to 11 letter words, recognizing the sets of rhyming words and framing meaningful sentences from the list of words given. They showcased Mathematical activities involving addition, subtraction, multiplicationand extending new patterns.

“The world is a theatre”.
On 15.12.18 the students of grade 6 & 7 presented “Theatre in Class” to their parents.It was a wonderful platform for students to use their vocal skills, tone of speech and expression. Drama has a physical, emotional, and social impact.  It is worth stating that it benefits students through their life. They would never forget all about Democracy, Human rights, Equality, Unity and Diversity, learnt in Civics and about Tribal communities, Architecture of Medieval India in History lessons.
They used freeze frames, hot seat, decision alley, dialogue, narration, role play and debate. Expect that students with these new study techniques will be able to approach situations in an array of different manners.  Students in turn will develop their creative thinking too.
Further, the opportunities provided are believed to build self-confidence in students also aid in honing their public speaking skills.
