Trip to Aavin Milk factory

Image
We the grade four students were all zealous to know about the Aavin   milk factory. On reaching we were guided by Mr. Albert, the manager at the factory. He helped us understand the routines of the factory. We were taken to the place where the tankers carrying milk we re weighed, to check the quantity of milk received from various places! The milk received,is filtered then boiled to certain degrees to kill all the germs. Then it is cooled in large containers. We saw how the butter is packed and stored in a big deep freezer. The freezer was a humongous room and was maintained at - 0.08 degrees. We went on to see the way milk was getting packed and sealed with the date and seal stamp. The process of packing was automatic. The entire place looked neat. We were lucky to have a guide. He explained the colours of packets and about their fat content. The details of date and stamp were clear to us. Code ‘M’ stands for packed in the morning. ‘A’ for afternoon‘E’packed in the even

STUDENT LED CONFERENCE at Velammal NewGen School, Navalur.

Our school SLC, student- led conference, was a meeting time with student and his / her family during which the student shared the portfolio of work and discussed progress with family members. This SLC built students sense of responsibility and accountability of their own learning, and it helped them to understand what learning target meant, as we have subject learning target and individual learning target. The teachers and I were able to get a better picture of each child. We sat down with each student and reviewed their strengths and weaknesses. This conversation often told us the students learned more than perhaps what we had measured through conventional assessments. The students freely discussed where they need to work hard and where they were wrong. I feel the best thing is that it helped them to accept responsibility for their learning. The SLC BINDER   was a portfolio collected by the students and the teachers. It   also had the answer papers ,Report Card, few photographs,

Today was the best day, we had our snacks, picked our water bottles and got ready for our field trip. We were very excited as it was time to sit with our best friends and travel to Aavin Milk Factory. We saw the big board, AAVIN, we went into the factory, and saw big machines, lot of people working and different types of milk packets. The covers  were of different colors, pink, brown, green and blue.  They  have different nutrients. The milk is stored in large containers before it is poured and sealed. We also saw the big bowl where they put butter and mix.  The packets fall into small trays, which are then taken  to the lorry to sell in the market. We learnt how milk is processed and packaged. AAVIN also makes other milk products and sends it to the parlors. There is one next to the factory. At the end, we all had tasty ice creams cups and sticks . We liked our trip very much. Thank you mam for taking us there.  Could you take us to Maggi factory the next

We, the students of Grade 5 went for an educational trip to Aavin milk factory at Sholliganallur on 28.01.19.We were excited about the trip and were eagerly waiting for this day, as it was the first time we were going with our friends. We were curious to know how big the factory was and the number of processes that took place there. With a lot of expectations we entered the factory where we were taken on a tour by the guide. First we were taken to a big room with big containers in which the milk was collected from different places, filtered twice, and then boiled for 80 degree Celsius.   The milk is boiled at high temperature to kill the bacteria and then it was allowed to cool. Before sending it to the packing zone the milk is differentiated, as fat, medium fat and fat free milk. Next we saw how the butter was being melted and then added to milk and later it was chilled and sent to the packing area. The packing area was astonishing. The packets were of different sizes and shap

SLC : Student- Led Conference

Velammal NewGen School,Kelambakkam : A trend setter                   It all started with a meeting that the ACOs of Kelambakkam and Navalur,I,Vani and Ms.Uma had with our SchoolGroupHead,Mrs. RamyaRamanan. We were introduced to SLC and it was decided that we conduct it in place of conventional PTODMs in Kelambakkam and Navalur. As the student strength is comparatively less in both the schools,we were chosen to pilot it.For years PTMs & PTODMs  have been the primary means of parent-teacher communication. But now progressive schools like Velammal NewGens are trying something new—SLC : Student-led Conferences that communicate not only how a student is doing but also why.  " A student-led conference is a conference with parents led by the student. The role of the classroom teacher is a facilitator in the conference process. Students lead parents through a discussion of their work and established academic and social goals "reads the definition of SLC.    In s
