As teachers of Social Science we feel that theatre in Social Science classrooms teaches students to personalize learning, connect to themes that we teach, navigate meaning-making, empathize with others, and build up the speaking and listening skills in students which are needed for academic discussion. You’ll be amazed at how incorporating theatre leads to more engaged students, and less stressful classroom management for teachers like us.
When we combine it with the elements of theatre, including simple costumes, props , make-up,music and even lighting it becomes a vibrant learning festival, the one we had today. And MLV:Making Learning Visible through theatre display is an authentic assessment as well, as teachers and parents  realize how the concepts are internalized by students and how the learning has happened.
Even Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy, considers “create” to be the highest order of thinking and theatre in classrooms program in Velammal has scientifically used this to make children create and learn. Ask our Velammal NewGen Medavakkam students and they would certainly say how thrilling and powerful a history or civics lesson delivered through contemporary drama can be!
