    The Velammal group has been receiving many Global Cooperation Programs and delegates from other nations every year. This environment brings an international dimension to teaching and learning, where the students and teachers interact with delegates from another nation and improve a sense of collective ethos and identity.  Recently the Velammal NewGen School,South campuses viz,Medavakkam,Madipakkam,Shollinganallur,Navalur and Kelambakkam had a project on Indo-Japanese Cultural Exchange during the dussehra time from 12 th October 2018 to 17 th October 2018 and the excitement was in the air in these schools. The project had the displays of the Indian Golu and the Japanese Hinamatsuri doll displays, one beside the other.          We students of Velammal NewGen Schools, Chennai, hereby present the Comparative study of the cultural traits of India and Japan with specific reference to the Golu and Hinamatsuri doll displays. Our schools had the displays of Golu and Hinamatsuri ,one beside the other, during the second week of October 2018,which made us draw parallels and do this comparative study. We 8th graders sat around to talk about our views on any topic during the 8 th period. This time the topic was about Uber Elevate-the eVTOL machines. Who doesn't have a birthday.... our beloved city of Madras too, has its birthday!  The first and oldest city of modern India, Madras, came to be known by the name on 22nd August 1639.  Kolkata is 50 years younger than Madras and Bombay is about 35 years.And here she is,the old city with all her exuding charm ...Namma Chennai !!! Swimming is my favorite sport. I feel that it is a very good exercise for both body and mind. There are 4 different styles in swimming- freestyle, back stroke, breast stroke & butterfly stroke.  I have been practicing all these 4 styles and have been learning swimming from the age of 6. Every day I go for swimming classes from 5:30 to 7:30am  in the mornings. If my mother doesn’t take me for my swimming class even for a day, I get offended and pick up a quarrel with her. This everyday morning routine makes me feel energetic. My coach says “Swimming shapes our body and helps us stay fit. Swimming is a sport for both boys and girls alike.” We have lots of boys and girls in our swimming classes. Michael Phelps is my role model. My father often shows me videos of Michael Phelps, the awesome swimmer from the US. He has won 28 medals in the Olympic games and 23 of  that aregoldmedals. Kalam Day The 21st century global society is considered a society of progress, especially in terms of technology and inculcating learning curiosity,which is also a part of Velammal NewGen Schools. And the best way to initiate that is the Science Learning Festival. This month’s Learning Festival was on the Great Man-Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, the great scientist   and an inspiration of modern times. It was held on 4 th August 2018. Students of each grade displayed special projects that they were working on to give their friends, family and community a taste of what goes at NewGen School ,Navalur. Tiny tots brain storming Today, 5 th  of September 2018, we at Velammal NewGen School Navalur celebrated  Teachers’ Day  where the members of the Student Council organised a program for the teachers. The day started with hustle-bustle with enthusiastic students running around and organizing everything. The day before, students of Grade 5, 6 and 7 met the principal, discussed about the show and planned for the D-Day. The students had planned to conduct this program and the preparations were going on full-swing for a week. Teachers were honoured with flowers, hand-made greeting cards and most importantly, our shower of affection. Students and teachers alike, had a gala time with brain-racking riddles, poems and songs, some heart-warming and some heart-clenching.
