Setting the stage for Mono-Acting @ VNGS...                The teachers of all the VNGS South schools who have been working toward integrating  Theatre in Classrooms (TIC)  for the past Academic year were in for a surprise on Saturday 27 July. Our ELT and Theatre Trainer Ms Kritika Dhiwahar, put our  learning so far and  facilitation skills  to test. We were asked to facilitate the warm up and ice breaker session for the day, in her place.  Mr. Rajesh the English teacher from VNGS Shollinganallur opened the session to a unique  focusing  game which was a mix of  ‘ Sim on Says’  and  ‘Do as I Say, Say as I Say’ . Even as  we struggled to keep pace with  his  instructions,  we  were visibly enthused at this welcome break from a hectic schedule. Theatre in classrooms : “wow period”or“fun time”...

The school teachers are trained by Ms.Kritika Dhiwahar,ELT & Theatre trainer of Velammal to use these theatre based instructions even in a first standard classroom.   Hot Seating is a theatre based instruction in which a character is played by a student and is interviewed by the rest of the students in the class. This activity invites students to recount a specific event, explore motivation and multiple perspectives/experiences related to a theme, topic, event, or idea. RED DAY CELEBRATIONS 🎊 @ VNGS Kelambakkam on 18th July 2019                           Today’s ‘Red Day’ celebration at VNGS Kelambakkam was a wonderful learning activity which helped the PlaySchool children to understand the concept of primary colours. We all know that red colour signifies love and compassion,but to the little ones aged 2 and a half,it is the colour of an apple 🍎 or traffic signal or their Diwali dress. To reinforce this, students and the teachers were dressed in red clothes. Classes were decorated with red balloons. Students actively participated in “Show and Tell “activity. Each of them got an opportunity to speak about their favourite red object. After that, they had finger printing activity. All students enjoyed colouring and printing their own hands. Overall, today’s ‘Red Day’was a fun day with a long lasting learning experience for the students. Smiles on the faces of kids was contagious...

Investiture Ceremony @ VNGS Madipakkam

The Investiture Ceremony  is a special occasion where the newly appointed Head Boy and the Head girl along with their team of office bearers are donned with  the mantle of responsibility  to carry out with utmost dedication.The ceremony began with the hoisting of school flag by our eminent Chief Guest Mr. DevaRaj, Assistant Commissioner of Police.  The office bearers took the pledge to keep the school motto of “Loyalty, Truth and Honour” in high esteem and to fulfill their duties with sincerity. Proud moment for VNGS Madipakkam

“A competitive person is always a WINNER” On Saturday 20.07.19, the best of best competed on stage, where students of Velammal New Gen School Madipakkam participated. Yoga competitors from all places gathered to take part in the massive event.The event inspired the spirit of camaraderie and support. VNGS Madipakkam was awarded the ‘Best School in Yoga’. Of 24 students who participated, four students won 1 st prize, 5 students won 2 nd prizes and 2 students won 3 rd prizes. Rushil Krishna of grade 7 had won Champion of Champions Award. With the beginning of the new academic session for the year 2019-20, an Investiture ceremony was organized today, the 23rd of July 2019. The ceremony commenced with the  soulful rendition of the School Prayer. On this solemn occasion, the young students were prepared to don the mantle of leadership and responsibility with utmost dedication. Initially, the candidates had prepared and presented strong speeches in front of all the students and teachers to qualify for the Elections.
