Theatre Integration In Classroom

If you would like to engage young people through exciting active learning methods in virtually any subject area through the medium of drama, then Velammal New Gen School is for you.

           The Drama in classroom program of Velammal NewGen Schools explores learning through drama and how to use the greatest resource that teachers have available to them – children’s imagination. Play is a natural part of children’s lives before they even start school, helping them to make sense of their place in the world. Such creativity is harnessed through drama to enable active and interactive learning experiences throughout classes 3to 8 and across the curriculum, particularly in SST:Social Studies, Languages & Science in the VNGS schools .

            The contemporary drama techniques like Freeze Frames, Conscience Alley, Soundscape, Flash Back & Flash Forward, Hot seat etc. are used by students in the VNGS schools to relate the concepts learnt in the subjects and make them “create”. They also learn to approach situations in an array of different manners which can help to develop creative thinking and new study techniques.  

Drama strategies also known as drama techniques are the everyday tools of the SST or Language teachers at VNGS schools. These teachers help students to employ theatre and develop enquiry skills, to encourage negotiation, understanding and creativity. Drama in classroom program actively involves students in their own learning.
